All you have to do is causally mention making cookies, and Jenssen has nothing else on his mind. Before you knew it, the supplies were out, before PJ's were ever changed out of.
Patience
The rest of them we formed into cookie balls, and put in the freezer for a few hours to freeze them just enough to not stick to each other.
A gallon sized bag was decorated daddy and Jens.
And the cookie balls were added. Every Sunday we will take out two cookie balls, and bake them. One for Jens to enjoy, and one to send to daddy. They may not be able to make cookies together for a while, but they can still enjoy the cookies they made today. I think there will be enough to last us until R&R, but if not, then I can whip up another batch, add them to the bag, and this nearly 3 year old will never know the difference.
I think this will be a good way to keep with the Sunday tradition that they both grew to enjoy so much, as well as serve as a weekly countdown. Sunday means church, then cookies!
And, of course, a little dish of cookie dough was set aside for mommy. I knew it was going to be a rough day saying goodbye, and cookie dough is a good coping mechanism.
Two cookies, for two best buds.
Yum!
So, operation Cookie Countdown is on it's way, and these two are pretty happy about it!
